Tribal masks are often seen as wooden sculptures and the illustrator who drew these motifs has been inspired by African masks. In African culture, this type of mask plays or rather played an important role in rituals and various ceremonies.
The purpose is different, it can be about ensuring a good harvest and other wishes that concern the tribe during peace or war.
The masks can also show tribal affiliation and symbolize totem animals and various other role figures.
